Terms of Service for LocalVox

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the LocalVox mobile application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

2. Nature of the App

LocalVox is an on-device text-to-speech studio and read-along reader. The App provides features including, but not limited to:

• Importing plain-text, EPUB, and PDF documents, or creating text from scratch.
• Converting text into spoken audio entirely on your device, with bundled voice packs and Apple system voices.
• Read-along playback with synchronized text highlighting, table-of-contents navigation, and audio export.
• Capturing printed pages with the camera and having their text read aloud (Scan & Read).

All synthesis and recognition run locally on your device; the App has no server backend.

3. User Content

• Ownership: All text, documents, and audio you import, create, or generate with the App belong to you. The developer claims no rights over your content.
• Your responsibility: You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to import, reproduce, and listen to the content you bring into the App. Do not import content you obtained unlawfully.
• Local only: Your content is stored only on your device. The developer never receives, hosts, or processes copies of it.

4. Voice Packs & Synthesized Speech

Speech produced by the App is synthesized. The built-in voice models are provided as-is; synthesized speech may contain pronunciation, intonation, or pacing errors, particularly for unusual names, technical terms, or noisy source text (such as scanned pages). The built-in voices are derived from open-source or licensed models and remain subject to their original licenses. The App's availability of system voices depends on your device and installed iOS voices.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes. You are strictly prohibited from using the App to:

• Reproduce, redistribute, or publicly broadcast copyrighted audio generated from content you do not have the rights to.
• Create audio intended to deceive, defraud, or impersonate others (including misuse of cloned or realistic voices to mislead).
• Circumvent digital rights management (DRM) or security features of any file, service, or device.

7. Intellectual Property & Third-Party Trademarks

The App's source code, UI design, and branding are the intellectual property of the developer.

The App is an independent product. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple or the authors of the open-source speech and linguistics components used by the App; those components remain under their respective open-source licenses.

All other trademarks, service marks, and trade names (including but not limited to Apple, iOS, EPUB, and PDF) used in the App are the property of their respective owners. Their use in this App is for descriptive and compatibility identification purposes only.

8. Apple Standard EULA

To the extent required by Apple, the terms of the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) in the Apple App Store Standard EULA shall apply to these Terms and supersede any conflicting provisions.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
